Matching eggs — 12 shapes, 12 colours
Twelve eggs that pull apart into twenty-four halves. Each one closes again only when the shape and the colour both match, so the toy corrects the child instead of you.
What it builds
- Shape recognition across twelve forms — star, hexagon, heart, arrow, cross and seven more
- Colour matching, held separately from shape, so there are two things to get right at once
- Pincer grip and two-handed twisting, which is the whole physical task of opening an egg
- Tidying as part of the game — twelve holes, twelve eggs, nothing left over
Why we stock it
Most shape sorters have one answer per hole and stop being interesting the week they are solved. This one has two variables, and mismatched halves will not sit flush — a child finds out they are wrong by feel, before anyone says anything.

In the box
Twelve eggs, matched and closed, in the yellow carton they live in. The lid latches, so it goes into a bag as it is and arrives with the same twelve eggs inside.
Care
Warm soapy water, rinse and air dry. Pull the halves apart first so they dry inside. Keep them out of the dishwasher — the heat warps the rims and then they stop closing flush.
Materials and care
Solid beech with a water-based, non-toxic finish. Wipe with a damp cloth — do not soak or put in a dishwasher. Every piece is tested for size, coating and finish against EN71 and ASTM F963.
